Private jets at Hawarden Airport
Hawarden is Airbus's factory airfield and home of the Beluga in the UK, about 4 miles south-west of Chester, with a 2,093-metre runway. Business aviation is handled by Aviation Park Group from its own Business Aviation Centre, within fixed opening hours and with prior permission for every flight.

Business aviation handling
APG's purpose-built Business Aviation Centre (FBO) has an Executive and VIP lounge and its own security screening, so passengers go from the FBO straight to the apron. Free customer car parking is directly in front of the terminal entrance.
Aviation Park Group (APG)
Business Aviation Centre, Aviation Park, Flint Road, Chester CH4 0GZ. Corporate and VIP lounge, crew room and quiet room, boardrooms, its own security screening facility, and Jet A-1, Avgas and SAF. Mandatory handling fee for all aircraft above 3,000 kg MTOW.
Worth knowing before you fly
- APG has its own security screening inside the FBO, so departing passengers clear security in the lounge and walk straight out to the aircraft. There is no main terminal to pass through.
- Opening hours are fixed and short at weekends (closing 18:00 Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays). A late return needs out-of-hours activity arranged in advance (notified by NOTAM) rather than a same-day request.
- This is a working Airbus factory airfield and the hard rules are strict: PPR on every flight, a GAR at least 24 hours ahead for international arrivals, and no operations at all in visibility of 400 m or less. A fog-prone morning needs a backup airport in the plan.

Airport
| Opening hours | Mon-Fri 08:00-21:00 local; Sat, Sun and public holidays 08:30-18:00 local. Additional activity outside published hours is by NOTAM, and the airport says hours may vary with operational requirements. ATC, fuel, handling, security and de-icing follow the aerodrome hours. |
|---|---|
| Prior permission | The aerodrome is PPR, and all flights need it. For landings above 3,000 kg MTOW, contact Aviation Park Group (ops@aviationparkgroup.co.uk, or its online PPR form). For 3,000 kg and below, contact either ATC or Aviation Park Group. |
| Customs and immigration | By arrangement, with PPR 24 hours (UK AIP). All flights arriving from outside the UK must submit a General Aviation Report (GAR) at least 24 hours before the flight. Customs, immigration and Special Branch clearances can be pre-arranged through Aviation Park Group. All pilots, crew and passengers must show ID on arrival and departure. |
| Slots | No slot coordination is published. Hawarden is not listed among the airports ACL serves. |
| Noise and night restrictions | No night restrictions are published beyond the airfield's opening hours. Noise abatement asks aircraft to avoid built-up areas, and jets must not join final approach below 1,000 ft QFE. APU and engine running are not permitted outside ATC/RFFS hours. |
| Aircraft parking | APG can provide apron parking for most aircraft, free for the first two hours. Large aircraft need prior agreement. Short- and long-term hangarage is available. The AIP describes hangar space for visiting aircraft on Apron N as limited and for light aircraft. |
| De-icing | Mobile rig by prior arrangement, during aerodrome hours (UK AIP). APG lists de-icing among its apron services. |
| Other restrictions | Run by Airbus Operations Ltd as an industrial airfield: the Beluga uses it to fly Airbus wings and other large components. RFF Category A7; aircraft above A7 need specific approval. No CAT II/III operations. In low visibility, movements are limited to one at a time at 800 m or less, and all operations cease at 400 m or less. Marshalling is mandatory on all aprons. Not available to non-radio aircraft or aircraft under 450 kg MTOW. Westerly and easterly winds above 15 kt may cause turbulence from the factory buildings. |
