Private jets at Blackpool Airport
Blackpool is a quiet, uncoordinated airport on the Fylde coast with a 1,868-metre main runway, open 07:00-20:00 local and later by arrangement. Business jets are handled by Hangar 3, the airport's authorised handling agent, which runs its own hangar, apron and VIP lounge.

Business aviation handling
Hangar 3 runs a dedicated FBO and business jet handling facility with a VVIP lounge and meeting room, from its own hangar and apron.
Hangar 3 Blackpool Ltd
The airport's appointed and authorised handling agent, operating from its own hangar and apron. VVIP lounge, private meeting room, catering, chauffeur and shuttle transfers, DEFRA-approved pet transit, out-of-hours service, and security screening for public transport aircraft above 10 tonnes. Tel +44 (0)1253 407070 (24/7).
Worth knowing before you fly
- Check fire cover before booking a larger jet. Standard fire cover is Category 4 (5 under remission), and Category 6 must be requested at least 24 hours ahead, subject to availability.
- Hangar 3 handles from its own hangar and apron and can arrange helicopter transfers onward to Manchester and the Lake District. It positions Blackpool for Lancashire, the Ribble Valley and the Lake District.
- Hours end at 20:00 local and must be extended by notice before 20:00 on the day, so a delayed evening return needs a call to the handler before the deadline, not after.
Operating information

Airport
| Opening hours | 07:00-20:00 local, and by arrangement. Out-of-hours agreements are mandatory in advance, and movements outside published hours must be notified to ATC and the fire service before 20:00 local on the day of operation. Hangar 3 advertises 7-day operations, 24-hour service and an out-of-hours service. |
|---|---|
| Prior permission | PPR is required for all aircraft movements. Request it by telephone to ATC, through the airport's online PPR form (blackpoolairport.com/ppr), or through a based operator or handling agent. A flight plan is not a PPR request. |
| Customs and immigration | 07:00-20:00 local, subject to 24 hours' notice. Handling is mandatory for flights originating outside the UK FIR, including Northern Ireland. Hangar 3 states it is approved by UK Border Force for customs and immigration coordination and notification. |
| Slots | Not slot-coordinated. The airport describes itself as a port of entry without slot-coordination constraints and states that runway slot coordination is not required. |
| Noise and night restrictions | No night restrictions are published beyond the opening hours. Departing jets must climb straight ahead to at least 1,500 ft before turning. Runway 13/31 is not available to jets except when the weather rules out 10/28, and it is daylight-only. |
| Aircraft parking | Visiting aircraft park on the Main Apron, with additional parking on Stand 1 or with the based executive handling agencies. Limited overnight hangarage for aircraft up to 10,000 kg MTOW, through the handling agent. Handling is mandatory for aircraft over 3,000 kg. |
| De-icing | Conflicting sources. The AIP lists limited self-service de-icing through the handling agent, but the airport's technical information page says de-icing facilities are currently not available. Treat it as not reliably available. |
| Other restrictions | Standard fire cover is RFF Category A4 (Category 5 accepted under remission). Category 6 is available with at least 24 hours' notice and subject to availability. Take-offs in RVR below 400 m are not permitted unless the AOC holder has lower minima, because 10/28 has no centre-line lighting. Pilots are warned of misidentification with Warton aerodrome, about 6 miles south-east. |
