Private jets at London Luton Airport
Luton is open around the clock with one 2,162-metre runway, customs available at all hours, and private terminals run by Signature and Harrods Aviation, 32 miles from central London. Every flight needs a slot and pre-arranged handling, and from June to September no ad hoc flights, including private jets, are allowed at night.

Business aviation handling
Signature runs a private terminal (Terminal 1, Hangar 63, Percival Way) with onsite customs. Harrods Aviation runs its own FBO, The Omnia, on President Way.
Signature Flight Support
Hangar 63, Percival Way. Private terminal open 24/7 with onsite customs and immigration, lounge, crew room, snooze room, conference room and ramp-side vehicle access. Heated hangar for day use only; no overnight hangar or ramp parking.
Harrods Aviation (The Omnia)
President Way. FBO open 24 hours, subject to summer restrictions. Aircraft up to Boeing 767, with 19,000 sq m of ramp and 5,500 sq m of hangar space. Fuel, maintenance and servicing on site.
Worth knowing before you fly
- From 1 June to 30 September, Luton accepts no ad hoc movements between 23:00 and 06:59 local, private jets included. Summer evening returns need to land before 23:00, or be planned into Stansted or another airport.
- Signature's Terminal 1 does not offer overnight ramp or hangar parking. On a multi-day trip, check where the aircraft will park, as it may need another FBO's apron or to reposition elsewhere.
- Early arrivals are held: an aircraft scheduled to arrive after 07:10 local will not be accepted before 07:00, so an earlier landing needs a slot timed for it.
- Customs and immigration are available at all hours and Signature's terminal is staffed 24/7, so late arrivals outside the summer night restriction are straightforward.

Airport
| Opening hours | Aerodrome, customs and immigration, air traffic control, fuel, handling, security and de-icing are listed as H24 in the UK AIP. Signature's Terminal 1 is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no call-out needed. Harrods Aviation's Luton FBO (The Omnia) is open 24 hours, 'subject to Summer restrictions from June to October' (Harrods). Training flights are only allowed 08:00-20:00 local. |
|---|---|
| Prior permission | The AIP does not use the term PPR for Luton, but the effect is the same. Every flight needs a slot from Airport Coordination Ltd (ACL), requested in office hours (08:30-17:00 local, Mon-Fri) or from the London Luton Airport Operations Control Centre at other times. Ground handling must also be arranged in advance with a based airline or agent, including for diversions. Operating without ACL acceptance or handling arrangements incurs a financial penalty that must be paid before leaving Luton. ACL says general and business aviation operators without their own slot access should request slots through Signature or Harrods Aviation. |
| Customs and immigration | Customs and immigration are H24 (UK AIP). Signature's Terminal 1 has onsite customs and immigration. |
| Slots | Coordinated airport (IATA Level 3, ACL). All flights need a slot from ACL: in office hours (08:30-17:00 local, Mon-Fri) from ACL, at other times from the London Luton Airport Operations Control Centre. Peak summer rule (1 June to 30 September, 22:00-05:59 UTC, so 23:00-06:59 local): no ad hoc movements are permitted, including commercial, GA and maintenance flights. This rule applied in summer 2026 and is repeated in the summer 2027 declaration. |
| Noise and night restrictions | Night period 23:00-07:00 local. At night, Chapter 2 aircraft may not operate and aircraft with a quota count (QC) above 1 must not operate. Departure noise limits are 79 dBA by day and 78 dBA at night; night departures above 78 dB at 6.5 km from start of roll incur a fine. Aircraft scheduled to arrive 06:10-07:05 local are not accepted before 06:00, and those scheduled from 07:10 are not accepted before 07:00. The night quota period is 23:30-05:59 local, with annual movement and noise quota caps. ACL's seasonal declarations also bar aircraft with a QC above 2 at any time. |
| Aircraft parking | Business jets park on the FBOs' own aprons. The ACL winter 2026/27 declaration says these aprons are self-managed, operators must make sure their FBO can park the aircraft, and parking outside FBO aprons is by prior arrangement only and may be refused. Signature says it has no overnight hangar or ramp parking (heated hangar for day use only). Harrods lists 19,000 sq m of ramp and 5,500 sq m of hangar. The AIP says hangar space for visiting aircraft is by arrangement with based companies. |
| De-icing | Available H24 (UK AIP), by arrangement with the handling companies. There are two remote de-icing pads, on Taxiway Foxtrot (4 positions) and the South Apron (3 positions), for aircraft up to Code C. Signature also lists de-icing at Terminal 1. |
| Other restrictions | A nominated handling agent is mandatory and must be arranged before the flight, including for diversions. Aircraft that cannot talk to ATC and radioactive cargo are not accepted. Wide-bodied aircraft have taxi limits (no Echo 1, Follow-Me on Bravo 8). Planned runway closures for maintenance are 00:01-05:30 on 14, 15, 21 and 22 November 2026 (ACL winter 2026/27 declaration). |
