Private jets at Washington Dulles International Airport
Dulles is Washington DC's main international airport, about 26 miles from the capital, with four long runways, 24-hour customs and two private terminals run by Signature and Atlantic Aviation. It lies inside the Washington DC Special Flight Rules Area, so every flight follows extra security rules, and ramp space can run out during big events.

Business aviation handling
The airport authority (MWAA) lists Atlantic Aviation and Signature as the general aviation service providers, and CBP processes private passengers at the FBO.
Signature Aviation
23950 Wind Sock Drive. Open 24 hours. VIP passenger lounge, onsite customs and immigration, de-icing and heated hangar for day use. No overnight hangar or ramp parking.
Atlantic Aviation
23411 Autopilot Drive. Open 24 hours. 14,200 sq ft executive terminal with lounge and conference room. Lists heated hangar space, Type I and IV de-icing and international handling.
Worth knowing before you fly
- Dulles has 24-hour customs cleared at the FBO, so it suits late international arrivals into Washington.
- The airport is inside the DC Special Flight Rules Area. Normal for an IFR business jet, but security events can bring extra restrictions, and Dulles is one of the few airports kept open to private flights at those times.
- Signature does not offer overnight parking, and both FBOs warn of full ramps during big DC events. If the aircraft is staying, confirm parking before you confirm the trip.

Airport
| Opening hours | The FAA Chart Supplement lists the airport as attended continuously. CBP says both FBOs operate 24 hours a day, and Signature and Atlantic each publish 24-hour, 7-day hours. CBP's office is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. |
|---|---|
| Prior permission | No airport PPR is published for business jets. Every flight in the Washington DC Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) needs a flight plan, an ATC-assigned discrete transponder code and two-way radio contact with ATC. |
| Customs and immigration | CBP inspection is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Permission to land must be obtained before departure from the foreign airport and at least 2 hours before the expected arrival, speaking directly to a duty officer. It is valid for 30 minutes either side of the ETA. Aircraft park on the FBO ramp as directed by the tower, an officer meets the aircraft, and crew and passengers are processed at the FBO's CBP office and can leave directly from the FBO. Signature advertises expedited international arrivals through onsite customs and immigration. |
| Slots | Dulles is not one of the US airports where the FAA limits flights with slots or schedule review. |
| Noise and night restrictions | No curfew is published in the sources checked. Flight training is prohibited 22:00-07:00 local, and engine run-ups between 22:00 and 07:00 local need prior approval from airport operations. |
| Aircraft parking | The Chart Supplement warns that long-term parking may not be available when the airport is saturated, and then only fuel-and-go services are offered. Signature offers no overnight hangar or ramp parking. Atlantic warns that its main ramp can become saturated during big Washington events, with aircraft sent to alternate parking areas. |
| De-icing | Available from the FBOs. Atlantic lists Type I and IV de-icing, and Signature lists de-icing. |
| Other restrictions | Dulles lies inside the Washington DC SFRA, a circle of 30 nautical miles around the DCA VOR/DME that the FAA treats as national defence airspace. Pilots must follow the SFRA security rules or risk interception and enforcement action. During national security events (for example the 2026 State of the Union address) the FAA has limited Part 91 and Part 135 flights in the SFRA to IFR arrivals and departures at Dulles, BWI and Manassas only. Taxilane A between A1 and A5 and Taxilane E1 are closed to aircraft with a wingspan over 118 ft. |
