Slots and permissions during the World Economic Forum in Davos

During major events, airports often run special slot, parking and prior-permission (PPR) schemes, and each airport sets its own rules for each event. Every event quote is subject to the slots and permissions being granted. We apply for them as soon as you book, and if your first-choice airport is full we offer the nearest alternative.

What the airports have published

For WEF 2026 a restricted area of 25 nautical miles around Davos was active for the meeting week, and IFR flights inside it were limited to those to or from Samedan.

Samedan during WEF 2026: prior permission and a signed pilot briefing were mandatory, Zurich or Geneva could not be filed as the alternate, and arrivals had to continue visually, so access depended on the weather.

Zurich: every IFR movement needs an airport slot all year, and during WEF 2026 parking was not guaranteed for aircraft without a parking permission.

Good to know

  • WEF 2027 ends on Friday 22 January, the first day of the Hahnenkamm race weekend in Kitzbühel and the Snow Polo World Cup in St Moritz, so Swiss and Tyrolean airports are busy at once.
